What to Expect

The Arthritis Club of Sun City West is a Chartered Club with the Sun City West Recreation Centers. Membership is limited to all current SCW Recreation card holders. Guests are most welcome!

 

Membership 

  • $10 per year per person (January – December)
  • Membership is limited to all current SCW Recreation card holders
  • Complete the membership form (see button above)
  • Pay by check  made payable to “Arthritis Club of SCW”
  • Bring your payment and completed form and pay at a class, or contact our Treasurer for address to mail both to the club Treasurer
  • Meetings are at least 3 times a  year, which usually include social events

Classes

Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 7:55am – 8:40 am

  • Classes meet at Beardsley Recreation Center Pool, 12755 Beardsley Road, SCW
  • Arrive early enough to change into your swimsuit (or wear it to save time) and your poolside shoes. Do not wear your street shoes into the pool area. Also, do not wear your pool shoes outside!
  • Bring your own towel
  • You are welcome to walk laps in the pool and socialize before the class starts
  • Many members like to wear water shoes for traction while in the water 
  • All exercises are done standing and do not require you to be under water at any time
  • The water in the pool is refreshing with temperatures between 87-90 degrees – you can walk right in!
  • Two water fountains are located inside the pool area
  • Keep your water bottle poolside by one of the ORANGE CONES for easy access.
  • There is new lighting in the pool area
  • The volunteer instructor will stand on at the East end of the pool, facing the members while leading the low impact exercises
  • We recommend you check with your doctor before starting to be sure this program is compatible with your medical condition
  • You are welcome to attend once, twice, or three times a week
  • You do not need to let us know which day you will be there, just show up
  • The locker rooms have showers, swim suit water extractors, restrooms, and lockers (bring your own lock)
  • If you decide to take a shower – the hooks were removed from the shower stall during the remodel so you may want to use something like a bungee cord to wrap around your toiletry bag and wrap around the bar inside the shower.
  • Can’t decide if you want to join? Feel free to visit us at the pool up to 5 times before deciding to join our club.
