2023 Membership Form

What to Expect

The Arthritis Club of Sun City West is a Chartered Club with the Sun City West Recreation Centers. Membership is limited to all current SCW Recreation card holders.

 

Membership 

  • $10 per year per person (January – December)
  • Membership is limited to all current SCW Recreation card holders
  • Complete the membership form (see button above)
  • Pay by check (preferred) made payable to “Arthritis Club of SCW”
  • Bring your payment and completed form and pay at a class, at the Saturday breakfast, or mail both to our club treasurer
  • Meetings are at least 3 times a  year, which usually include social events

Classes

Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 7:55am – 8:40 am

  • Newly renovated Beardsley Recreation Center Pool, 12755 Beardsley Road, SCW
  • Arrive early enough to change into your swimsuit (or wear it to save time) and your poolside shoes. Do not wear your street shoes into the pool area.
  • Bring your own towel
  • You are welcome to walk laps in the pool and socialize before the class starts
  • Many members like to wear water shoes for traction while in the water 
  • All exercises are done standing and do not require you to be under water at any time
  • The water in the pool is refreshing with temperatures between 87-90 degrees – you can walk right in!
  • A water fountain is located inside the pool area
  • Keep your water bottle inside your tote or leave it on one of the tables (please do not leave it on the side of the pool)
  • There is new lighting in the pool area
  • The volunteer instructor will stand on the edge of the pool facing the members while leading the low impact exercises
  • We recommend you check with your doctor before starting to be sure this program is compatible with your medical condition
  • You are welcome to attend once, twice, or three times a week
  • You do not need to let us know which day you will be there, just show up
  • The locker rooms have showers, swim suit water extractors, and lockers (bring your own lock)
  • If you decide to take a shower – the hooks were removed from the shower stall during the remodel so you may want to use something like a bungee cord to wrap around your toiletry bag and wrap around the bar inside the shower.
  • Can’t decide if you want to join? Visit us at the pool several times before deciding 

Weekly Breakfasts

  • Every Saturday, 9:00am
  • Lou’s Tivoli Gardens Restaurant, 12555 W Bell Rd, Surprise, AZ 8538
  • Meet in the back meeting room
  • Order off the menu and pay for your own meal

Social Events

  • Annual Picnic in late spring at Beardsley Recreation Center Park – check the calendar for exact date and time
